Higher Score or Inside the SAT:
Two Ways to Prep for the Test
"Many college-bound high school students view the
SAT and ACT as tests that can literally determine their future.
Because these tests weigh so heavily in the college admission process
- and because they follow well-established formats - taking them has
become a field of study all its own. Each year, thousands of students
enroll in test-preparation courses that last as long as six weeks and
cost as much as $800.
"Of course, not everyone has the time or money to
take these classes. That's why Kaplan Educational Centers and the
Princeton Review, the two largest test-preparation companies, both
offer CD-ROM versions of their courses.
Kaplan's Higher Score on the SAT and
ACT 98 is a bit more entertaining and interactive, while
Princeton Review's Inside the SAT &
ACT takes a more straightforward approach. Nevertheless, both
titles contain study guides, tips, and practice tests that can help
students face these tests with more confidence and self-assurance."
