Reviews:CD-ROM Today, June 1996 "Plenty of multimedia atlases examine the physical features of Earth, and dozens of other CD-ROMs wade deep into the animal kingdom. Creative Wonders' Wide World of Animals combines both approaches to offer a unique analysis of the relationship between the planet and more than 700 species of its wildlife." "Documentary videos focus on animal behavior, such as parenting, adaptation, camouflage, commuincation, and cooperation; others examine environments, homes and nests, locomotion, and parenting. Creative Wonders recommends Wide World of Animals for all ages, but parents with young children should know that several clips (particularly in the competition and food-finding categories) are quite graphic. "The disc also features a series of time-lapse photography effects. Some demonstrate how animals, such as the African elephant have evolved over millions of years; others display animal migration patterns. "Wide World of Animals uses political and physical maps (similar to those in Creative Wonders' 3D Atlas) to demonstrate the relationships between animals and their environments. The maps allow you to study wind patterns, terrain, ocean currents, precipitation, and temperature ranges. Human population, agriculture, and pollution statistics highlight the impact Homo sapiens have had on the rest of Earth's inhabitants."
