Sculptures - Drawings - Photographs
This tripartite CD-ROM devoted to Auguste Rodin presents his sculptures, drawings and photographs, throwing light on the many and various aspects of his oeuvre. In the juxtaposition of images and information, elucidated by informed comment, it is the creative processes of the artist that vividly come to the fore.
The Visit, organized under nine headings, gives an introduction to Rodin's protean world, the key to which is held by the nude. The video and photographs present Rodin's major works in the space and natural light for which he conceived them. This preliminary viewing is accompanied by an "off-stage" commentary.
The Works groups each of his sculptures with the majority of the preparatory studies. Linked iconographically or chronologically, over 500 images accompanied by concise comment trace the history of each work, from its genesis, through its infinite metamorphoses.
Lastly, the Book provides a more extensive portrait of Rodin's life and work, his motivations, his plastic and literary sources, his interest in dance and the East, in short the many faces of his creativity. What strikingly emerges here is the coherence of his art: the unity of inspiration in the variety of his oeuvre.
