Images from the Garden at Giverny
Photographed by Elizabeth Murray
One of the masters of French Impressionism, Claude Monet (1840-1926)
regarded his gardens at Giverny as his artistic masterpiece. With a genius for
color relationships and an eye trained to discern the effects of light and
atmosphere, Monet spent decades creating a symphony of hues and textures in the
flowers and foliage surrounding his charming pink stucco home.
Photographer and garden designer Elizabeth Murray worked as a gardener on
the restored Giverny estate and has studied Monet's gardens extensively. Her
vivid photographs reflect her expertise and deep appreciation for the place
that inspired some of the world's most beautiful paintings. The picturesque
Grand Allee, the famous water lily pond with Jamapnese footbridge, and Monet's
beloved roses are only a few of the treasures featured in this screen saver's
twenty seven images.
