The First Real (and Totally Cool) Composing Space for Kids
By Morton Subotnick
Making Music is a creativity tool that encourages children to use their imaginations. Kids start with familiar tunes that introduce the basics of musical structure. Children then apply those lessons as they play in the composition area, where, using simple drawing tools, they can create their owm symphonies.
The Central Composition Space. Enter notes by drawing on the screen, then duplicate them, turn them upside down and backwards, change the scale, choose any of 16 instruments - the way real composers do.
Building Blocks. Listen to six simple tunes to learn about structure and repetition, then mix them up and make your own tunes.
Melody & Rhythm Maker. Create original melodies and rhythms; hear how they sound separately and together.
Filp Book. Combine three elements - melody, rhythm, and instrumentation - from a musical flip-book.
Games. From novice to maestro - these games can be played using your original compositions.
