Reviews:
Computer Shopper, February 1998
"You can tell right away from the cartoons and hip humor
that Kaplan's Higher Score on the SAT and ACT makes a real effort to hold your
attention as it takes you through the ins and outs of the tests. This doesn't
mean, however, that it skimps on substance. There are lessons on test strategy
for each section of the test, reviews of basic math concepts, flash cards for
vocabulary and math, practice tests, and games that reinforce what you've
learned."
"Kaplan excels in the area of practice tests. For the SAT,
for example, there's a half-length diagnostic test, four section-length tests
for the verbal and math parts, and four full-length practice tests. The
interactive answer sheets let you mark questions you want to come back to,
indicate whether you're sure or unsure of an answer, and cross out choices
you've eliminated. After you've finished the test, a chart-based analysis shows
how well you did by guessing, whether changing answers helped or hurt you, and
how well you eliminated answers that were obviously wrong. You see which answer
is right and get an explanation of why.
"The Kaplan course is also fairly interactive. If you begin
by filling in the student profile and taking the diagnotstic test, the program
prepares a customized study plan for you, based on how much time you have
before the test, and which areas you need to review the most."
"Overall, the program's humorous touches made for a more
enjoyable and inviting learning experience, and its analysis of test results
was both accurate and valuable."
