Everything Your Kindergartner Needs to Succeed at
Reading
Join Mr. Hopsalot on a vacation adventure to find the lost
carrot-patch treasure. Along the way, your child will develop the same
progressive reading skills taught in a full year of classroom instruction.
Grade-Based Lessons. Reading lessons are organized by
the Kindergarten year. Every activity reinforces the skills your child is
learning at school.
A 10-Step Foundation. We concentrate on 10
classroom-proven skill sets so your child develops a solid foundation for
success in reading, and in school.
Focus on Phonics. Every activity begins with a game
that reinforces phonics skills. Plus, there's individual attention to vowel,
consonant and blended sounds.
Emphasis on Fun! Everyone learns better when they're
having fun. Movie-style animation, bright play areas, toe-tapping music and
action-packed game play keeps your child giggling and encouraged.
Learn-To-Read Tools. JumpStart Kindergarten Reading
includes customized tools that match the way your child learns best - whether
it's by makeing associations, memorizing, listening, writing, creating or
singing.
Have a Hopping Good Time!
Discover the hidden carrot-patch treasure. Visit Mr.
Hopsalot's furry family and friends. Each one has a special clue for you and
each one has a special reading activity for you to complete. Follow the clues
to find the treasure. Along the way, you'll gain confidence in each of the 10
critical areas of reading success.
ABC's Mr. Hopsalot's hangout is full of fun
things to do. Join Mr. Hopsalot at the blackboard for a fun-tastic review of
letter shapes and letter recognition.
Case Letters Grandpa needs his letters delivered
across the bayou. You'll hear a letter and see its upper or lowercase version
on a sign. Find the matching letter on a bobbling turtle or crafty crocodile.
Emphasis is given to letters that are easily confused such as Vv and Ww.
Sounds & Letters Phonics skills are
reinforced over and over in hundreds of delightful ways. Before each
interactive activity, you'll be asked to find the objects that begin with a
letter, a letter sound, or a letter combination.
Vowels It's fiesta time! Differentiate vowel and
consonant sounds as you click on parts of the pinata. Make enough matches and
the pinata will burst open, spilling goodies everywhere.
Consonants & Blends Grandma's coaching
hockey! Pick out the pucks with a consonant or consonant blend on them, and
shoot toward the goal. Can you get your pucks past the pesky penguin goalie and
score?
Phonics Vocabulary Mr. Hopsalot's furry friends
point out the letter sounds in more than 350 new and familiar words. You'll
build your phonics vocabulary as you blend consonants into sounds and match
sounds with words.
Review & Reinforcement At the end of every
activity you complete successfully, you'll be rewarded with a clue. Use the
clues to dig up the treasure that's been hidden in the carrot patch for years.
Clues review all foundational reading skills.
Sounding Out At the Bovine Hoedown, one row of
dancing cows holds the beginning part of a word. The other row holds the
ending. If the cards match and form a word, watch those cows do a merry
"moo-galoo!"
Word Building It's a fine-feathered race to the
finish! Each Toucan has one of the letters you'll need to build a word. Choose
the letters correctly and Mr. Hopsalot's cousing wins the surfing race.
Sentence Building Bebop is writing a song, but
he needs your help! Supply the rhyming words he asks for to build lyrical
sentences.
