What Is El Niño?
El Niño is an interaction between ocean currents, waves and winds that affects weather patterns in much of the world. It causes cold, wet winters in the southern USA and drought in Australia. Other regions of the world in turn also have their weather affected by El Niño.
Find out how El Niños develop, what effects they have and how we measure them in this unique CD-ROM. The CD-ROM is packed with animations, interviews, movies of severe weather events and data obtained from the NOAA's network of sensing buoys moored across the Pacific Ocean. The disk also includes enough background information on weather, climate and the atmosphere to make sense of every aspect of the exciting El Niño phenomenon.
