Butterflies are one of the most attractive and best-loved of the animal groups, ranging from the small creatures in our own gardens to the magnificent beautiful butterflies of the tropics. This volume has full information on all the fifteen main butterfly families, with details on some 250 species, all fully illustrated by specimens - often reproduced at life size.

The latest version of Butterflies of the World has been upgraded with new narrated video, a picture menu system to allow easy access to each butterfly species and information on where representatives of each butterfly family can be seen in North America. It also includes comprehensive contact information on most of the butterfly farms and gardens in the world.

The aim has been to make a CD-ROM that provides an entertaining overview of the butterfly universe, but which also gives enough information to satisfy the student who needs more detailed information for projects and research. A general narrated introduction and a chapter on ecology, including effects of climate, predators and migration patterns makes sure that even the casual browser becomes a butterfly expert in a very short time.
