Reviews:
Electronic Entertainment, January 1995
"The big difference between A.D.A.M. The Inside Story and The Ultimate Human Body is that
A.D.A.M. sweetens its prescription with a generous dose of humor, while
The Ultimate Human Body takes a more serious approach.
"A.D.A.M., short for Animated Dissection of Anatomy for Medicine, will make
you laugh while you enjoy a fascinating under-the-skin look at what makes you
tick. Simply click the mouse to shed one of the body's 97 layers. Clicking on
most central organs, such as the heart, brings up individual diagrams with
terms, illustrations, and narration.
"Your hosts Adam and Eve take you on an entertaining tour of the 12 body
systems. Each trip starts with an engaging personal exchange. For example, the
Respiratory System begins with Adam watching his favorite Maharishi conduct
breathing exercises and then chatting about it with Eve."
Children's Software Revue, November 1996
"If you want your kids to expand their knowledge on the wonders of the human
body, A.D.A.M. (Animated Dissection of Anatomy for Medicine) is a good choice.
There are two main parts to this program: Anatomy and the Family Scrapbook.
Anatomy makes is easy to explore the realistic (you can adjust the skin color,
gender, and add strategically placed fig leaves) human model one layer at a
time. Just move the slider on an elevator menu to zoom in another layer...from
skin to bones. A search feature finds a specific organ (302 of the names are
pronounced). New features include two new views of the model (a side and back
view), "fly-through" tours of select organs, and the ability to rotate 3-D
models of key organs like the heart or lungs. If you are online, there's also
an easy connection to A.D.A.M.'s web site, which contains new puzzles and
quizzes.
"The Family Scrapbook is an electronic photo album with 12 chapters, each
covering an anatomical system. It is hosted by Adam and Eve, a witty modern
couple that teach anatomy through their daily adventures in a humorous style.
For example, Adam impersonates Arnold Schwarzenegger as he kills a bee that has
just stung him, or does Rodney Dangerfield as he asks for a little respect in
the men's room while demonstrating the urinary system. Other options include 12
quizzes and eight puzzles in which you drag parts of a system into place. The
puzzles are only accessible with a password given if you register the product.
In all, there's not shortage of puns and fun, but these don't overshadow the
clear illustrations and solid information."
New Castle, PA News, October 22, 1996
"The Inside Story, a tour of the human body with a humorous and witty
couple, Adam and Eve, as guides. There is a 'Full Anatomy' screen available of
either a man or woman in front or back poses, including an internal view, with
even a choice of race. There's also a 'Family Scrapbook' with four hours of
animated stories that explain concepts with concise simplicity that young and
old will appreciate."
