Reviews:Multimedia World, May 1995 "Most Saturday morning cartoons consist of poor characters like the Road Runner getting squished by an Acme anvil or equivalent. Now you can enjoy the same pummeling all week long on your PC. "The Incredible Toon Machine, a follow-up to the popular Incredible Machine series, is an animated game that follows the exploits of a mischievous mouse, Sid, and his feline friend, Al. They guide you through three areas, including 100 - plus puzzles and head-to-head competitions. "The highlight is the puzzle section. You take various cartoonish object form a menu bar and drag them onto the screen, setting up an animated chain reaction that's triggered when you select Action. Put the pieces in the right spots, and a fire-breathing dragon may torch Sid, or one of the Acme-like anvils might flatten Al. "Toon Machine helps cognitive skills - but too bad the designers didn't make a cartoon full of something other than violence." Computer Gaming World, December 1994 "In Jeff Tunnell's latest installment in The Incredible Machine series, you create the same kinds of Rube Goldbergian devices you made in the past. The difference in the Toon version is that the result is always some wild animation where the cute, but not cuddly, creatures get anvils on the head and singed by dragon fire in order to get a chuckle out of you. The emphasis is still puzzle-solving, but the entertainment value has been punched up to the limit. Whether you're watching cats gag on hairballs or elephants sneezing their way through puzzle solutions, you'll have a great time straining your brain." CD-ROM Today, June 1995 "The game's only failing is that its humor is appropriate for six-year-olds, but its puzzles are suited to older children (say nine and up). Nonetheless, the 130 puzzles in this game, ranging from very easy to intermediately challenging, will provide hours of inventive entertainment and at least a few hearty laughs."
