From CPAN: the Comprehensive Perl Archive Network
The Perl CDROM is based on CPAN, the Comprehensive Perl
Archive Network. Larry Wall's Perl combines the best features of C, sed, awk,
and sh. People familiar with those languages should love Perl. Perl is an
interpreted language optimized for scanning text files, extracting information,
and printing reports. It's also an excellent language for many system
management tasks.
CPAN aims to be the Perl archive. It's the only Perl archive
you will ever need. The material is as up-to-date as possible, and organized to
make finding files easy.
You'll get the sources to the latest version of Perl
(5.005). You also get binary or source versions for Solaris, SunOS, Linux,
FreeBSD, Windows NT/95/3.1, Mac, OS/2, DOS, Amiga, and Atari. Perl compiles on
over 40 platforms.
There are over 700 scripts for Perl, including system
administration utilities, mail-handling, Internet protocols, and file-handling
libraries. This CDROM contains a very robust collection of tools dealing with
HTML, CGI, Syntax-Parsing, Web Servers, and other WWW topics. You also get over
1500 modules for Perl.
The Perl CDROM comes with documentation, papers, examples,
and support utilities. There are articles on a variety of subjects, including
discussions of the new features in Perl.
Extensions include connections to Tk, Motif, and many
databases including Oracle, Sybase, Ingres, Informix, and Postgres, as well as
B-trees and C-trees.
Shareware programs require a separate payment to the author
if found useful.
