NovaLogic Game Lockheed Martin Fighter SeriesThe First Thing It Will Kill Is an Enemy's Appetite for WarThe F-22 Raptor air dominance fighter - equipped to destroy the enemy in the sky and on the ground on the first day of war. Equally adept at destroying an enemy's desire to fight, long before there is a war. Get ready to own the skies with F-22 Raptor - the next generation of the best-selling fighter simulation, F-22 Lightning II.
The Next Generation Air Dominance FighterThe F-22 will counter the increasing sophistication and threat of hostile air forces and integrated air defense systems around the world. This stealthy, agile fighter will provide air dominance and near-precision ground attack capability for U.S. forces well into the 21st century. The success of major air-land operations depends on America's ability to achieve air dominance by defeating any threat in the air or on the ground. With its sophisticated blend of stealth, super-cruise and advanced avionics, the F-22 is designed to counter threats presented by other fighters and increasingly capable integrated surface-to-air defense systems on the ground. The F-22 will provide a first-look, first-shot, first-kill capability by decreasing the reaction time of enemy threats. To improve operations from battle-damaged runways, the F-22 offers significantly reduced takeoff and landing distances compared to today's front-line fighters. The F-22 is capable of carrying existing and planned air-to-air missiles in internal weapons bays. These include six radar-guided AIM-120C Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missiles (AMRAAMS) in the main weapons bay and two heat-seeking, shorter-range AIM-9M Sidewinders (one on each side weapons bay). The F-22 will also have an internal M61A2 20mm cannon, an advanced version of the proven M61 Gatling-type gun. In addition, the F-22 will have an inherent ground attack capability, carrying two 1,000 pound GBU-32 Joint Direct Attack Munitions (JDAMs) internally with provisions for other air-to-ground munitions of the future. The F-22 will incorporate a new, higher-thrust-to-weight engine designed for efficient supersonic operation without afterburner (called supercruise) and with increased durability. A greatly increased combat radius, using internal fuel only, will give F-22 pilots the capability to engage enemies over enemy territory, support long-range air-to-ground assets and bring ground-attack capability to the battlefield.
