Games Domain by John Brandon
"Novalogic obviously paid attention to both aspects of the film, because
Delta Force: Black Hawk Down features some amazing action sequences, but at its
core there is a sneaker-shooter mentality that makes you think about and plan
for upcoming battles. The game is basically what would happen if you mixed the
deliberate pacing of Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield with the all-out brutality of
a shooter like Unreal 2. Both sides of your brain will be engaged, sometimes at
the same time, for an ultimately fulfilling experience."
"Black Hawk Down is actually one of the most effective games of the past few
months at tying the engaging, true-to-life story into its varied
gameplay..."
"Part of the enjoyment of Black Hawk Down is the
balance between quick firefights and strategic planning. There's always this
sense that you only have a few seconds to take up a position, analyze your
surroundings, and then make your move. The game uses a limited number of saves
approach, with the actual number varying between missions, so you're left
constantly deciding: where should you attack, when should you save, and when
should you hold back and plan things out more. This balance makes for an
exciting wartime experience..."
"Ultimately, Black Hawk Down is an exhilarating special ops action game,
with finely crafted missions and amazing graphics. For anyone who loved the
"shock and awe" of the movie, the bloody action and non-stop shooting, this
game will provide the same kind of visceral thrill, and then some."
