The Task at Hand: Win the Air War Over England!

The German war machine has just conquered all of France. Hitler's hordes look out across the English Channel to the White Cliffs of Dover and are ready to cross and crush Britain. Only one obstacle remains in their path: The British Royal Air Force!

As Air Chief Marshal Sir Hugh "Stuffy" Dowding, take command of the British RAF and order your Spitfires and Hurricanes to "scramble" against German Me109s screaming out of the sun. Or, as Hermann Goering, Commander of the Luftwaffe, plan dozens of bombing missions against British airfields and industries to bring the "Empire" to her knees. All of this and more awaits your finest hour!

Gary Grigsby and Keith Brors, creators of the famous Steel Panthers Series, have teamed up with TalonSoft to deliver a revolutionary new strategy wargame. TalonSoft is proud to announce the first collaborative effort with the pathfinders of modern computer wargaming! Set in the skies over Britain, 1940-1941, TalonSoft's Battle of Britain combines an intensity and variable depth of play never experienced before in a computer wargame.

Supermarine Spitfire
Few combat aircraft have attained the glamour associated with the Spitfire, which it earned not only for its defensive victory in the Battle of Britain but for its fine looks and excellent performance. Entering RAF service in 1938, the Spitfire I was light and agile. Its eight .303 caliber Browning machineguns could spray a total of 160 bullets per second, so even inexperienced pilots had a chance of hitting their target.

Plan your strategic bombing campaign against British air defenses and industry for the ultimate conquest of Europe!

Heinkel Hell 1
The Hell 1 was the longest-serving medium bomber in the Luftwaffe's arsenal of aircraft. It was easily distinguished by its elliptical wings, large glazed nose and cigar-shaped fuselage. The Hell 1 could carry twice the bomb load of the Do17 at almost twice the distance. However, it was slower and less maneuverable than the Do17, which meant it was less likely to escape from an enemy fighter attack. Its bomb bay consisted of eight vertical compartments, each capable of holding a 250-kg (550-lbs) bomb nose up. In this way the bombs fell out of the aircraft tail first and tumbled before pointing nose downward.
